The Los Angeles Lakers went up 2-1 in the NBA Finals, with a huge win on Tuesday night in Boston. After a disappointing game two the Lakers responded in game three with a 91-84 victory over the Boston Celtics. The game started out rough when the Celtics went up 6-0 in the early minutes of the first quarter and Phil Jackson needed to call a time out. After the timeout the Lakers played a lot better in the first half. They had a 17 point lead with nine minutes left in the second quarter, but they knew that was not secure. At half time the score was 52-40. In the first half the Lakers played great defense and had good offensive execution.. Kobe Bryant was not shooting the ball well but still had 16 points. Ray Allen and Paul Pierce were having a tough time shooting. It was not the Lakers defense, they just missed wide open shots. Also Lamar Odom played well in the first half after a horrible game one and two. The difference in the first half for him was that he was not getting fouls and that made it so he could stay on the floor. The Lakers looked to have the game in the bag, but in the third the game changed.
In the third quarter the Celtics played great defense and got back into the game feeding off the crowd. The Lakers couldn’t get the ball inside and were jacking wild threes as the shot clock expired. It seemed the Celtics were gonna take over the game in that third quarter, but the Lakers held the lead well. At the end of the third the score was 67-61 Lakeshow. Kevin Garnett was playing a lot better than he was in game one and two, and forced a double team when he got the ball. He was fired up the whole game, and really played well.
In the fourth quarter Derek Fisher stole the show. Kobe Bryant was having an off night, and the Lakers needed some one else to be the closer. Fisher answered the call. He carried the Lakers on his back with 11 points in the fourth. The Lakers went on to win game three and took a 2-1 lead in the NBA Finals. It was a very important game because now if the Celtics are to win the Finals they need to come back to LA to do it.
The Lakers now look to game four. It is important for LA to take game four as a must win because if they win they will take a commanding 3-1 lead, which would be huge. Lamar Odom needs to play as good as he did in game three if not better if the Lakers want to win game four.. When LO plays well the Lakers are pretty much unbeatable. They also need play aggressive on the defensive end like they did tonight. If they do those two things they could go up 3-1 in Finals.Vodpod videos no longer available.
